Financial Sales Executive

Location: New York City, NY, USA

RavenPack is a leading global provider of quantitative data products sold to top hedge funds, asset managers and risk managers. The firm specializing in deriving quantitative analytics from news feeds, press releases, earnings reports and other qualitative sources of market information. In business for nearly 8 years, the firm has a well earned reputation for quality and expertise and its' brand is well established in the global quant marketplace.

The firm is enjoying a period of rapid growth and the Financial Sales Executive will be a key member of the organization contributing to taking the company to the next level. RavenPack has approximately 20 employees located in the United States and Europe.

Summary:

This position will be based in New York City and report to the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. The Financial Sales Executive is responsible for developing prospect relationships and closing contractual commitments to subscribe to the firms' financial data products.

The position provides for a base salary and on-target-commission compensation which will be matched with the track record and experience of the successful candidate.

General Job Duties:

  • Source new prospect relationships in the financial services marketplace with cold calling, networking and list management activities.
  • Develop knowledge and a thorough understanding of the firms' products and the business problems they can address in the financial marketplace.
  • Present, in a compelling way, the firms' solutions in person, and via electronic presentations.
  • Follow and execute a structured sales process for revenue growth and prospecting.
  • Uncover new revenue opportunities within an account based on the understanding of the work flows and quantitative strategies being deployed within the prospect.
  • Maintain rigorous sales process and contact records.
  • Achieve net new revenue growth targets and maximize retention capabilities within accounts.

Required Experience:

  • 2-5 yrs experience in a comparable financial sales environment, preferably financial software or data products with emphasis on trading, risk and asset management.
  • Facility with software and computers.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to convey important messages to clients and develop rapport over the phone.
  • Experience in fee negotiation. Proven history of consistently growing an assigned territory.
  • Must have sold into the financial industry.
  • Must have good knowledge of the research and quantitative segments of the financial markets.
  • Excellent time management/organizational skills. Able to multi task and adhere to short deadlines.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree - preferably with a focus on business and finance, computer science, or mathematics. MBA/CFA a plus.

Quantitative (Equity) Analyst

Location: New York City, NY, USA

RavenPack, a leading real-time news analytics provider, with a diverse range of clients is looking to add a quantitative equity analyst to their expanding organization. After a period of sustained growth, the company sits as one of the most recognizable names in the industry.

The available research role will focus on using quantitative measures to understand how news events and news sentiment will impact stock prices both intra-day and over longer investment horizons.

  • Ideally you will have 1-2 years experience as a Quantitative (Equity) Researcher
  • You will have an excellent academic record holding either a MSc or PhD in a quantitative discipline.
  • Candidates should have a thorough understanding of quantitative finance and portfolio theory, coupled with previous experience in the risk or investment field would be ideal.
  • Solid experience in the field of financial data analysis and research, and with outstanding analytical and problem solving skills.

Key skills required:

  • Good knowledge of at least one OO programming language (e.g. R/ Matlab/S-Plus/C++)
  • Time series modelling / simulation or quantitative research experience
  • Experience of working with large & complex data sets
  • A solid foundation in optimisation, probability and statistics
  • Practical approach to problem solving
  • Outstanding quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Detail oriented

The ability to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally is a must. Legal US working status is required.

Common Lisp Developer

Location: Marbella, Spain

Position immediately available for an experienced, motivated software professional. You will work with an international team of developers and scientists with backgrounds and interests in computing, psychology, linguistics, finance, mathematics, anthropology, and philosophy.

The ideal candidate will have excellent skills as a computer scientist and software engineer, with experience delivering quality software. You must be fluent in standard software development practices on current operating systems. If you are not already an expert in Common Lisp, you will become one. Innovative problem solving and engaging human interaction are key. Design and implement maintainable software in Common Lisp based on loose and changing specifications, with a high degree of independence. Interface to and build solutions in other languages such as Java, C, Unix scripts, or Visual Basic. Use the best tool for the job.

Familiarity with SQL and specifically Oracle RDMBS including query optimization and PL/SQL is very much a plus. Comfort in a growing, fast-paced environment with a premium on problem solving. Must have the flexibility to do whatever needs to be done to solve the problems correctly.Work successfully in a small team environment, with a willingness to teach and to learn. Lead reviews of your code and participate in the reviews of others.

The ability to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally is a must. Knowledge of Spanish is not a business requirement. Current European Union legal working status is preferred.
